Two Rape Suspects on the Run

Kampong Speu: The manhunt continues for the 32-year-old suspect in the rape and attempted murder of a 14-year-old girl in Kampong Speu. The young victim remains in a coma at Phnom Penh’s Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital. While the search for her attacker goes on, the Cambodia National Council for Children is investigating another shocking rape case, also in Kampong Speu. This time, it’s an eight-year-old girl who was apparently raped several times by her 13-year-old neighbour.

Cambodia National Council for Children Deputy Secretary General Ms. Sambath Sokunthea has told EAC News that while the hunt for 32-year-old Math Mustafha is ongoing, they have received another case to investigate. Also, in Kampong Speu - where an eight-year-old girl has been repeatedly raped by her 13-year-old neighbour. She says the girl’s mother became worried when her daughter started asking her some strange questions. It was when she asked her what was bothering her that the girl told her the shocking story. She says her 13-year-old neighbour had raped her several times over the previous two weeks. The boy has since gone missing.

The CNCC, police and child protection unit have now launched a manhunt for him. Given his age, we cannot release his name.
